Amer Fakhoury Foundation to Host Protest at White House

Amer Fakhoury was illegally detained in Lebanon, tortured, and ultimately died due to the abuse at the hands of the Lebanese government and military. His daughters, and the Amer Fakhoury Foundation, will be hosting a protest outside the White House on Tuesday, December 14th.

The aim of the event is to highlight the plight of US hostages and illegal detainees held overseas, while their families and loved ones only receive anemic to no US government response.

“We must do better. It is our duty and right to remind the current administration of their accountability and culpability for inaction against these injustices”Guila Fakhoury, CoFounder of AFF

Their press release reads:

Each year, more and more Americans are effectively held hostage by corrupt governments seeking to gain leverage over the United States. Unfortunately, the US government’s response projects a lack of the will to fight to bring every one of our Americans home.

On December 14 at 1:30 (EST), AFF will stand in front of the White House and represent those who are being, or have been, illegally held overseas and their families. We welcome families and friends of those who have similarly suffered, as our father and family did, to join us in highlighting the government’s need for action.

As the holidays have arrived, many families are again spending another year without their loved one. When you gather around the table this year, be thankful for the family that is surrounding it and remember that there are families who lack this privilege. The Amer Fakhoury Foundation will never forget, and we will continue to shed light on the illegal detention of Americans around the world.

Families, friends, and loved ones of Matthew Heath, the Citgo6, and Luke Denman and Airan Berry will be in attendance, among others, including Melanie Berry, the wife of Airan Berry, who is travelling all the way from Germany.

All those concerned for the well being of these Americans illegally held abroad are welcome, and encouraged, to attend. We stand in solidarity with everyone affected by these events and will continue to make noise until these prisoners are released.
