Rep. Williams Fights for Texans Imprisoned in Venezuela
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) sent a letter to United States Department of State Secretary Mike Pompeo urging immediate action to free Luke Denman and Airan Berry from imprisonment in Venezuela. Williams released the following statement:
“Last week I wrote to Secretary Mike Pompeo urging the State Department to do everything in their power to return Luke Denman and Airan Berry home to their families. Luke and Airan are U.S. Army special forces veterans unlawfully imprisoned in Venezuela under the Maduro regime. This issue came to my attention from the Denman family in Austin, who have been tireless advocates for the release of these American patriots.
“The United States must not sit idly by while illegitimate, murderous dictators like Nicolas Maduro threaten the safety of Americans. The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Venezuela presents a clear and present danger to our nation and to the wellbeing of our citizens – we are wasting precious time without immediate action to bring home two of our own. I will continue working with President Trump and Secretary Pompeo to reunite Luke and Airan with their families, and I will continue partnering with my constituents on this critical matter.”
