Bring Our Families Home Campaign Event
This week, the Bring Our Families Home Campaign held two events in the Washington, D.C. area. A candlelight vigil was held in front of the Bring Our Families Home Campaign mural in Georgetown.
Families of wrongfully detained Americans also gathered in front of the White House, hoping for their stories to gain much needed attention.
Events like this are necessary to gain traction of so many cases that have been left unanswered, or given promises that don’t seem to lead to action.
Hostages held all over the world require representation. We are so thankful to the Bring Our Families Home Campaign for championing these individuals, and their families:
Airan Berry - Venezuela
Shahab Dalili - Iran
Luke Denman - Venezuela
Eyvin Hernandez - Venezuela
Majd Kamalmaz - Syria
Jerrel Kenemore - Venezuela
Kai Li - China
David Lin - China
Siamak Namazi - Iran
Zack Shahin - United Arab Emirates
Emad Shargi - Iran
Mark Swidan - China
Morad Tahbaz - Iran
Austin Tice - Syria
Paul Whelan - Russia
Late last year, Matthew Heath and the rest of the hostage group known as “the Citgo 6” were released from Venezuela. We are relieved for them and their families, and incredibly grateful for the hard work it took to get these men home. We are hoping that events such as these will strengthen everyone’s resolve, give families hope, and get the attention required for those who can take action to act.
Brother of Luke Denman, Mark Denman, also appeared on CBS to give an interview on behalf of Airan Berry and Luke Denman:
Progress and attention are fantastic, but we need to start seeing real progress on these cases. We are grateful to everyone who will listen.
